In a world where our children are constantly filled with uncertainties, challenges, and self-doubt, and social media attacks them from all sides; we can teach them that Jesus Christ is our beacon of hope and inspiration. His death and resurrection teach that just as we are truly worth dying for, in turn, Jesus is undoubtedly worth living for!!
The Sacrificial Love of Jesus
Jesus’ willingness to endure and excruciating and humiliating death on the cross exemplifies his love for us all. We can teach our children that no matter our flaws or shortcomings, we are deserving of love, compassion, and forgiveness. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross teaches them that they are inherently valuable and cherished in the eyes of our Creator. After all, he bought all of us with his blood.
The Triumph of Resurrection
While Jesus’ death on the cross is a testament to his love, the resurrection embodies hope, renewal, and the triumph of life over death. The miracle of Jesus rising from the dead shows that there is no darkness or struggle that is without redemption. We need to teach our children that the resurrection is a beacon of light, reminding them that there is always hope on the horizon. The transformative power of resurrection shows that they can rise above challenges.
Worthiness in Christ
Jesus’ death and resurrection show our children that their worth is not defined by material possessions, achievements, or the approval of others! Instead, their value lies in being beloved children of God, created in his image. He loved us enough to die for us.
When we can help our children understand that we are worth dying for in the eyes of Jesus, it changes our perspective on life. They no longer need to feel in adequate or unworthy, but rather empowered. By helping them see their worth in Christ, they can let go of the need to seek validation from friends or social media and instead focus on being the best version of themselves. Sons and daughters of God!
Living a Life Worthy of Jesus
As they come to understand the magnitude of Jesus’ sacrifice, it will hopefully inspire gratitude and devotion. If Jesus considered us worth dying for, then surely, he is worth living for. Living a life worthy of Jesus means embodying the values he taught – compassion, forgiveness, love, and selflessness.
We can teach them that by following Jesus’ example, we can the world a better place, by offering love and kindness to those around us. In times of doubt or difficulty, we can draw strength from Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, knowing that we are not alone in our struggles.
So, take time this week to enforce the love that Jesus has for your children. Let them know of his sacrifice and his redemption for them; that he cherishes them deeply. There is nothing that they face that He won’t help them with. No challenges, no betrayal, no test, no failure; nothing is too big for our God. As they understand the beautiful love He has for them, may it strengthen their confidence and let us set their feet on a path of certainty; the certainty that only comes from knowing that just as we are truly worth dying for, in turn, Jesus is undoubtedly worth living for! This can be a wonderful Table Talk this week……….at your Table of Grace.
